MICROSOFT MCDST

The Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST) credential proves that you have the skills to successfully support end users and to successfully troubleshoot desktop environments running on the Microsoft Windows operating system.

MCDST candidates are required to pass two core exams. Elective exams are not required. The following table lists Official Microsoft Learning Products courses and Microsoft Press books designed to help you prepare for these exams. See individual exam preparation guides for exam availability. The exams are:

Word processing is the use of computers to create, revise, and save documents for printing and future retrieval. This course is the first in a series of three Microsoft Office Word 2003 courses. It will provide you with the basic concepts required to produce basic business documents:

• Exam 70-271, Supporting Users and Troubleshooting a Microsoft Windows XP Operating System
• Exam 70-272, Supporting Users and Troubleshooting Desktop Applications on a Microsoft Windows XP Operating System

We offer 4 courses to support MCDST, 2 traditional and 2 exam-prep:

Traditional MCDST courses

(5 days / 10 evenings)

We offer 2 traditional courses to support the MCDST certification:

• Course 2261, Supporting Users Running the Microsoft Windows XP Operating System (3 days)
• Course 2262, Supporting Users Running Applications on a Microsoft Windows XP Operating System (2 days)

Exam-Prep MCDST courses

We also offer 2 special courses to support MCDST which offer hands-on lab work and exam-prep work. These are offered as a unit, not separately:

• Course 2263, Exam Preparation for the MCDST Certification (Clinic) - 1 day (2 evenings)
• Course 2264, Exam Preparation for the MCDST Certification (Hands-On Lab) - 2 days (4 evenings)

These courses are not intended to take the place of Microsoft 2261 and 2262. They are designed as a supplement for students who have already taken those courses, and need to prep for the exams.
